In a real fight it's how experienced some one truly is, how adaptive and innovative an individual is, and the will to act is everything. I have done martial arts and met a lot of martial artists and yes the twirls do seem cool. She is using a bo staff they are not the strongest and those spins are strictly for showboating. If you held an axe to a bo and swung the bo full power it would bend and snap. So moral of the story spins are useless and will only get you killed. However against an/multiple unexperienced opponent(s) it can be intimidating enough to mentally find out who is or isnt willing to fight. So only spin your weapon from a distance. or if close quarters only spin ONCE for momentum and/or as a throw off/mix up.
